South Rockhampton Cemetery
South Rockhampton Cemetery is a historic cemetery located in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. The cemetery is quite an old one. Jennifer Willets has provided quite a detailed and interesting history of the cemetery on her website. Many of the headstones I came across indicated that the people passed away during the late 1800s to the early 1900s.
Unfortunately the cemetery needs a lot of work. Quite a few of the graves have been smashed and the grounds themselves are a little overgrown. This has lead to a general air of neglect.
However, the Rockhampton City Council has worked on the cemetery within the past few years. Within recent years, a fence was erected around the entire cemetery. I hope there are further works planned to return this cemetery to its former beauty
