OMG, I am getting old. It was my birthday yesterday. Well actually it still seems like today for me as I haven’t been to bed yet. I am now 37 years old. Eek! I’m starting to get up there in years, that’s for sure.

As birthday’s go, it wasn’t too shabby. Hubby did his best to try to wake me up a little this morning and say, “Happy birthday,” before he left for work at sparrow’s fart. Despite being drugged out on Seroquel, I remember him saying it me. Although I slept until around 3pm and missed his calls, he tried to ring me from work to wish me a happy birthday too, all because he thought I wouldn’t remember from the morning. I thought that was really sweet. He can be a cutie sometimes.

GBF asked me around to his place this evening for dinner. He also asked Aunty Heather, Barbie and Patsy around. They all turned up, despite the late notice (we’d only decided on the dinner thing around 7pm) with little gifts so that was lovely. Of course, the company is better than any gifts, but it certainly was thoughtful of them.

Also today, I was offered an interview for a job I applied for recently. It’s only an 8 hour per week position; not that I am complaining at all. Working full time still fills me with trepidation because of my fluctuating moods so I am much more comfortable applying for jobs that only offer a limited amount of hours per week. Coupled with my photography job on the weekends and the study I have to finish I think I will be busy enough. The little bit of extra money will be good too. The interview is on Monday morning. Hopefully soon after the interview I will remember to write in this little blog how I went.

Mmmm, well that’s about it. I really must get my butt into gear and get Hubby’s crib ready for his day shift. Geez, he will be awake in just over a couple of hours time. I might forego my usual Seroquel dose tonight so that I will be able to stay awake and not sleep completely through Friday. I’m due to visit a friend this afternoon and I want to pop down to the shopping centre and see if I can find an outfit for Monday’s job interview. Hopefully, despite the lack of Seroquel, I will be able to slip in a couple of hours sleep. I don’t like my chances as I can’t usually sleep at all if I don’t take the Seroquel. Let’s hope I am lucky this time though, and am able to catch a couple of Zzzzz’s.

It’s a Quick Update Post

Meh! I feel kind of lethargic today. I guess driving in and out of Semi Big Smoke yesterday sucked the energy out of me a bit.

Relating to yesterday’s trip to Semi Big Smoke, the good news is that I have my laptop back after it spent 1½ weeks in the computer hospital supposedly getting fixed. To cut a long story short, the laptop’s fan died so I took it to a computer tech place in Semi Big Smoke for a new one. After 1½ weeks I started to get a little pissed off because the computer tech people hadn’t called me back when they said they would. (At the time of me dropping the laptop off with them they said that they would give me a call that afternoon or the next day with a quote for the replacement of the fan). After calling them to see what the heck was taking them so long, I finally got an answer back saying that they had ordered a new fan but it wouldn’t arrive for several weeks. They also indicated that they did what they could to get the old fan working again, although it would still be a good idea to replace the fan. I drove all the way into Semi Big Smoke yesterday to pick up the laptop only to find that the fan was still not working when I got it home. Given that I use the thing for both study and work, let me tell you that I was a little pissed. Anyway, I’ve given up for the moment, unscrewed the back of the laptop and set it aside and am now using the laptop without the fan working and without the back on it. So far it doesn’t seem to be heating up too badly, so cross fingers, I can use it at least a little until the new fan finally arrives.

Mmm … I guess I didn’t cut the long story short at all. Meh! I needed to whinge about it. It really annoys me when people don’t call you back when they said they would and even after trying to contact them, they still don’t bother to return calls. It’s just not a good way to run a business!

On a less angsty note, my little health kick (actually let’s call it a slight lifestyle adjustment) is continuing. Beginning last Sunday, I have been incorporating a small amount of exercise into my daily routine. Given my poor state of fitness, it’s only been a small amount of exercise; either 10 minutes on the exercise bike or 5 minutes on the exercise bike and a bit of a resistance routine on the Easy Shaper Gym with a few stretches thrown in. Dare I say it, it’s been … well … kind of enjoyable. I’m not making myself any promises but maybe if this exercise thing works out I could start looking at the copious amounts of crap I eat. Who knows … maybe I will start feeling a little better physically. It would be nice if some of these aches and pains would go away.

Well, that’s about it for this time around. Until next time …

Whoa! A Shot of Activity!

I don’t know what’s happened but these past few of days I’ve been doing … well … stuff. How totally unlike me! I’ve cooked, done the dishes, put a couple of loads of dirty clothes through the washing machine and have even hung it out on the line and brought it in when when dry. I’ve driven into the semi big smoke again to pick up GBF and one of his mates from the airport. I’ve visited the optometrist to collect my new contact lens. (Yay, I have eyesight again!) I’ve been to the local seniors centre to photograph them exercising for the soon to be defunct local shire council. These past few days have been a flurry of activity!

I have no idea where this extra shot of energy has come from and, believe me, I am not going to look this particular gift horse in the mouth. It’s nice to have the energy to do stuff. My house is (slightly) cleaner than usual. I’ve eaten yummy food due to the whole cooking thing. I’ve been out of town and visited the (almost) real world. These past few days have been the best in quite a while. It’s good!

The Roomba Discovery Robotic VacuumOh, and since I am raving about good things can I just say that I love my new robotic vacuum cleaner. It is the best $400 I have ever spent. The lounge room and kitchen floors have never been so clean for so long a time. With regular use, the little wonder vacuum is even starting to lift some of the more ingrained husky fur from the carpet. It’s such a cool little machine. I’m so going to let in loose down the hallway soon, and who knows, eventually I might even tidy up the master bedroom enough to use it in there. I love my Roomba Discovery!

Okay, well, I’m going to end this post right here … on a positive note. There’s going to be no negativity in my post today. :)

Holy Crap! It’s a Podcast

I’m feeling too tired to write anything cohesive at the moment so I thought I would try doing an audio post … see how it works and all that. It’s long; it’s kinda boring, but feel free to have a listen.

Gabcast! Where to from here? #1

OMG, I woke up with an incredibly feral headache this morning. Oh how I hate those morning headaches. They are always the worst. Ouch!

While waiting for the Nurofen I took to work it’s magic on my aching head, I decided to check out my daily horoscope. Since I get it emailed automatically to me each morning, checking my horoscope is a bit of a ritual for me although I don’t take too much stock in it.

Here’s what this morning’s email had in store for me:

libra horoscope for 11 July

My initial thought while reading through the horoscope was, “Uh Oh!” You see, I am off to Semi Big Smoke today, primarily for an appointment with my pdoc. I am, however, also planning to stay over night with a friend who lives very near Semi Big Smoke. She rang me yesterday to ask me to stay over because she is having some problems. It’s a long story, but she is in the middle of packing up her house for a move back to the little town I live in. The problem is that around ten years ago she had a terrible accident which left her what the government calls partially disabled. Amongst other things, she lives in constant pain. Anyway, in trying to pack up some of her belongings the pain has exploded and she is finding it hard to cope, hence me staying over night at her place to try to help her out a little.

According to today’s horoscope, however, my overnight stay may turn into something more. Perhaps I should consider packing an extra set of undies. :?: Mmm, then again I am not that good at roughing it. I may just throw in an inflatable bed (she has already sold her spare bed … d’oh), a blanket, pillow, extra shirt or two and maybe even a few more pairs of undies. Yep, that should do it. :)

It’s Still Kind of Chilly

Can someone please tell me why, when the weather websites tell me it is 14°C, my fingers and toes are on the numb side. How much of a woose have I become? It’s cold. It’s winter and I am secretly relishing the cool weather (even if my hands and feet aren’t).

To top off the cool weather, it has been raining for a couple of days, or maybe more; I can’t correctly recall. I can see blue sky breaking from the clouds as I type this post, but the weather websites tell me that more rain is to come early next week. We need the rain down here in Aussie Land so despite almost having no clean undies to wear since I haven’t been able to wash any clothes since my weekend away, rain is good.

current weather map

See the rain on the above weather radar map? Go the current weather conditions, I say! Bring on the rain. Bring on the cold. Winter in central Queensland rocks! I pooh pooh my hubby who is hiding out in the bedroom with the heater roaring. Now that is the definition of woosiness!

Again, things get pretty wild and frank from here onwards, so choose to read it or not …

Current Mood:Sick emoticon Sick

We are only a few days into winter and I already have my first cold for the season. What’s up with that!?! Thankfully it’s not a bad one. I’ve really only got the sniffles, sneezes, coughs and a few minor aches and pains. I don’t really feel all that sick with it, thank goodness. I’ve certainly had heaps worse. What I have learnt, however, is that I need to exercise that muscle. Women over 30 know what I’m talking about. Too much information? Nah, I’m the queen of TMI.

Given that I’m not at 100%, I’m thankful that I only had to work a few hours this weekend. There really wasn’t much happening in town over the weekend; just an annual art show which is organised by the local high school’s P&C Association and junior rugby league on Saturday. I was only out and about with the camera for 2½ hours, followed by another hour or so doing paper work. It was a relief not to have to work much over the weekend.

I’m heading into the semi big smoke on Tuesday morning to stay a few days with a friend. I was supposed to leave tomorrow morning, however hubby has been asked to work an extra night shift so I’ll be at home tomorrow night with the furries. It should be good to get away. I have some clothes shopping planned. :)
